I know many of you are addicted to downloading using bittorrent as
there are tons of things to download everyday. Other than that, there
are also users who not only wants to download but also to seed as much
as possible in order to maintain a good ratio in private torrent tracker
sites. The best place to do it is of course your office, college or
universities. You don’t need to worry about the electricity bills
because leaving the computer turned on for 24 hours or taking up your
bandwidth at home.
The problem is, what if the network administrator don’t allow you to install and run bittorrent client such as uTorrent or Azureus? No problem at all! You can still download your favorite movie from torrent even if you can’t install and run bittorrent client on the computer.
Use BitLet, a web-based BitTorrent client! You don’t need to download or install any BitTorrent client. Just visit BitLet’s website, enter the torrent metafile URL and press Download torrent. Torrent metafile URL means the direct link to the .torrent file. For example,
http://torrent.fedoraproject.org/torrents/Fedora-8-Test-1-i386.torrent.
I’ve tried downloading Fedora using BitLet. It’s works and does not require any configuration at all. After entering the torrent metafile URL and pressed the Download torrent button, a popup will appear. It will say “Downloading metafile”.
Download torrent in universities
Once the torrent metafile is downloaded, it will ask you where you want to save the downloaded file.
Download torrent on college
Finally, it will start downloading the torrent. It will show your download speed.
bypass installing torrent client to download torrent
Best part about BitLet is, it supports resuming. Every time you restart a download just click save in the same location where you saved the download the first time (the applet will propose it by default), and your download will be resumed.
Important Note: BitLet is not totally flawless because you must have Sun Java installed. If the administrator also blocks Java from being installed on your computer, then you won’t be able to use BitLet. Since Java is widely being used, I believe network administrators won’t block Java from being installed on a computer.
